The Lodge Scole is located in Yamagata Prefecture in Japan’s Tohoku region. It is accessible by Shinkansen (bullet train), airplane, and long distance expressway bus. Lodge Scole is 30-40 minutes away from Yamagata Train Station by car or local bus.
From Narita Airport take the JR Narita Express (NEX) to Tokyo Station or the Keisei Line Skyliner to Ueno Station. Change to the Yamagata Shinkansen Tsubasa at either Tokyo or Ueno Stations. Get off at Yamagata Station and take a local bus to Zao Onsen from the number 1 bus stop on the east side of the station. There is no bus service after 7pm on weekdays and outside the ski season. If you arrive after 7pm get off the Shinkansen at Kaminoyama-Onsen (one stop before Yamagata) and get a taxi to the Lodge Scole. Let us know in advance if you will be arriving after 7pm (or if you would like to take a taxi), we will reserve the taxi for you at a special Lodge Scole discount.
There are direct flights to Yamagata Airport from Tokyo Narita and Haneda Airports and from Osaka Itami Airport. From Yamagata Airport get a bus to Yamagata Station and then change to the local bus to Zao Onsen. During the winter season there are direct bus services to Zao Onsen from Sendai Airport (accessible from Tokyo Haneda and Narita Airports, Osaka Itami and Kansai International Airports, and numerous other domestic and international airports).
There are a number of long distance coach/highway bus services from Tokyo (Shinjuku or Tokyo Stations, etc…) and a few other major cities. Please check the websites below for additional information.
